Peru, a cradle of civilisation, has much to love – and some things to hate. Travelling there for 6 months gave us time to appreciate what Peru has to offer.
We took the long way from Pisco to Lima and were rewarded with an incredible scenic route through the Andes in the central highlands of Peru. [30+ photos]
From distant peaks to deep valleys, the views in the Andes of Bolivia are breathtaking. Unfortunately, high altitude also takes my breath away.
This is our adventurous tale of how we crossed from Bolivia into Chile, using a border which has no official border crossing. Many things didn’t go to plan.
At the end of our first year of full-time overland travel in South America since returning, we wanted to share some of the highlights of 2015 with you.
Colourful and snow capped mountains, a narrow gorge, a wide plateau, wildlife – the sceney along Ruta 60 towards Paso San Francisco is incredible!
We were stuck, due to floods, around La Serena and Valle de Elqui in Northern Chile. Yet it’s such a beautiful region with friendly people – we loved it!
Mountains in vibrant colours, rivers narrow and deep or wide and shallow. In this part of Argentina the scenery continually changes, as we enter Mendoza.
